The Power Over Cancer Dragon Boat Team, established in 2009 in partnership with the Wellness Cancer Community Philadelphia, is a paddling fitness initiative for individuals affected by any type of cancer. The program seeks to enhance participants’ overall wellbeing within a safe, collaborative, and encouraging paddling environment.

The team welcomes men and women undergoing treatment or who have recently completed treatment, as well as caregivers and supporters with direct experience of the cancer journey.  Participants meet weekly for practices on the Schuylkill River during warmer months and get together for volunteering and social activities in the offseason.

Whether you’re an experienced paddler, a complete beginner, or anywhere in between, all you need to join is the will to be active following a cancer diagnosis or treatment, in the company of those who helped get you through times of uncertainty.  Come enjoy the healing powers of paddling on the Schuylkill River with us as we firmly believe that wherever you are on your journey, you have Power Over Cancer.
