Philadelphia Flying Phoenix (PFP), a competitive women's dragon boat team, has been churning up the beautiful Schuylkill River in Philadelphia since 2003. Our tribe is bound by a strong work ethic, a quest for fun, a genuine affection for one another, and a commitment to each other as teammates.
We practice aboard sleek dragon boats three or more times per week from March - October. Fitness and self-improvement are lifestyle priorities. When we are not on the water, you will find us lifting and erging together throughout the year so we can be the best that we can be - as a team, as crews and as individual athletes. As a result, our crews BURN WATER when we race against other women's dragon boat teams regionally, nationally and internationally.
We are always looking for new paddlers. Experience is not a requirement to join PFP. Our world class coaching staff will train you. Soon you will be racing to win, and having fun along the way!
- Premier (top paddlers 18+ yrs.)
- Senior A (40+ yrs.)
- Senior B (50+ yrs.)
- Senior C (60+ yrs.)
- Against the Wind (ATW, breast cancer survivor crew)
We race women from other teams at dragon boat festivals and regattas.
(Senior crews follow the racing classes of the International Dragon Boat Federation rules of racing.)
We employ world-class coaches year-round to work with our athletes as a team, in crews, in small groups and individually. Our coaches are dedicated to meeting and exceeding crew and team goals, and they are dedicated to helping each athlete achieve her own personal goals – at any level.
